Metro Housing|Boston was proud 
to participate in the 2018 Greater Boston Project Connect, which provides families with the tools they need to get back on a path toward success. The event is presented annually by the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley and was held at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center on July 20th.
Families in a state of transition often do not have ready access to safe housing, health services, legal support, job coaching, and other things that are critical to their well-being. Metro Housing met with 128 families experiencing homelessness, or who were in need of other services that we provide.
Four Metro Housing staff members – Anthony Woods, Carla Rosata, Matthew Gibson and Joanna Villalobos – provided information on programs such as HomeBASE, Green Space, RAFT, Family Economic Stability (FES), and Housing Consumer Education Center (HCEC).
They also met with many people who were in need of affordable housing and provided information on how to do an effective housing search and gave resources for housing information.
“I spoke to quite a number of people seeking information on HomeBASE, and how to access the program, since so many attendees reside in shelters,” said Anthony Woods, HomeBASE Stabilization Manager. “This event was a great opportunity for us to show potential applicants how to sign up for the program and how the funding can be used.”
“I was happy that so many service providers were on hand and inquired about our Family Economic Stability Program,” said Carla Rosata, FES Coordinator. “Most of the providers I spoke to plan to get their clients on the FES waiting list.”
Metro Housing reached 27% of those that attended Project Connect, giving the community an opportunity to meet our staff and learn more about Metro Housing and our new highly accessible location at Roxbury Crossing.
