Lowell L. Richards III served on Metro Housing|Boston’s Board of Directors for nearly 30 years, as Co-chair for twelve years prior to his death in 2012.
To honor his dedication to Metro Housing’s mission, and continue his legacy of leadership and public service, Metro Housing established the Lowell L. Richards, III Fellowship for Leadership and Public Service in 2013.
Fellowship experiences aim to encourage high-performing graduate students to consider careers in public service. Lowell personified the impact one individual can make to transform the footprint of a region, the outlook of a city, and the future for millions of individuals and families over generations.
The Fellowship is hosted by Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) where Lowell Richards served as Director of the Economic Planning and Development Department for more than ten years. The fellow will work onsite at Massport on a project which will focus similarly on projects in urban planning and developmen.
