Massport to Host Fellowship for the Tenth Consecutive Year
Boston, MA – Metro Housing|Boston has announced that Nathaniel King of Tufts University has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the Lowell L. Richards, III Fellowship for Leadership and Public Service. King will complete his fellowship this summer with the Massachusetts Port Authority’s (Massport) Real Estate and Asset Management Department, where Lowell Richards was Chief Development Officer for more than ten years. The announcement comes on March 15, Lowell Richard’s birthday.
“We continue to attract exceptional and very competitive candidates for the fellowship and this year was no exception,” said Karen Richards, Lowell’s wife. “Nathaniel exhibited a combination of life experiences and accomplishments that would have made Lowell proud to have him represent him with this Fellowship. In the end, I like to believe that what we know and love about Lowell inspired this decision.”
“We are excited to once again host a Lowell L. Richards III Fellow at Massport this summer,” said Andrew Hargens, Chief Development Officer. “Over the last several years, through our partnership with Metro Housing Boston, a number of exceptional individuals have worked alongside us in Massport’s Real Estate & Asset Management Department. Nathaniel’s credentials are outstanding, and we look forward to having him join our team.”
Nathaniel is currently a Master of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning Candidate at Tufts University and expects to graduate in May 2023. He previously graduated from University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography. Nathaniel is also currently serving as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst for Applied Geographics, Inc.
“Economic development, affordable housing creation, and public realm enhancements are all critical to the continued success of our region. I’m thrilled for the opportunity to work alongside an organization that has demonstrated leadership in these areas,” said Nathaniel. “Working as the Lowell Richards Fellow will give me invaluable exposure to the operations of public sector entities like Massport, which will help me prepare for a permanent role in the urban planning field.”
