OMERVILLE, MA – A Somerville man has been recognized by the local Veteran’s Administration for his fair housing advocacy for veterans.
Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership (MBHP) Fair Housing Client Advocate Thong Phan recently received the VA’s Housing Hero Award.
Phan worked to assist veterans who were denied access to units after receiving public assistance. Due to Phan’s work, the property management company ultimately discontinued its policy of rejecting prospective tenants who had received assistance.
As a result, units were opened up to the veterans that Phan advocated for and removed a barrier for veterans and other recipients of public assistance in the future.
Phan has worked for the MBHP for a little over a year.
