Milton renters, do you need help?

The Town of Milton has established a $100,000 emergency rental assistance fund to assists tenants who have lost employment or otherwise suffered income losses as a result of the COVID-19 related economic closures.

The Town will partner with Metro Housing Boston to administer the program. The program will provide financial assistance to eligible households who owe back rent or don’t have the ability to make their next scheduled rent payment and are at risk of losing their housing.

Applications to the program will be accepted beginning July 20 and the application deadline is Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. Households in need of assistance can complete the program application through the online application portal on Metro Boston’s website. At the end of the application period, a lottery will be held to determine the wait list order for receiving assistance.

“Housing is key to living a stable, healthy, and fulfilling life. It’s critical that available resources are put to work to help residents stay housed and safe during this difficult time of COVID-19 and its consequences.

“This grant program will use federal HOME Consortium funds, which are dedicated to creating and maintaining affordable housing. The Select Board, Affordable Housing Trust, and Housing Committee wish to thank the Planning and Community Development Department for bringing this program to our residents,” Melinda Collins Select Board Chair Melinda Collins announced in a press release.

Up to $4,000 in assistance is available for income qualifying households.
