Volunteer Opportunities
Metro Housing|Boston seeks volunteers for a variety of our programs and activities. From leadership roles to offering your motivational support, we have volunteer opportunities available for you or your business.
Skills-Based Volunteers
Share your professional experience and expertise to create meaningful impact for our families at Metro Housing. Volunteers can provide workshops on specific topic areas including family wellness, self-care, being a caretaker, hoarding, housing options, pest control, healthy eating, etc. Our Green Space program seeks experts with a financial assistance background to provide financial coaching workshops. Volunteers will work with Metro Housing’s financial literacy and coaching program for low- and moderate-income families and individuals. Financial workshop topics can cover:
- Financial Readiness
- Budgeting & Smart Spending
- Banking & Saving
- Credit & Debt
- Financial Goals
Donation Drives
Metro Housing ensures that people have the items they need to successfully transition into their new homes. You can help us by hosting a donation drive for essential items that will help our families get ready for school, put food on the table, and make a house a home. Donation items include:
- Back-to-school Backpacks
- Holiday Toys
- Welcome Home Kits

Advocacy Volunteers
Help take action by supporting our advocacy priorities that will provide real solutions to problems with access to affordable housing. Read more about our priorities here. You can help us by writing to your local legislator or meeting with them in person and discussing why the above priorities are important to you and your neighbors. Work with Metro Housing staff to discuss talking points and email templates made easy to send to your representatives.
